The word "refactoring" can be triggering to product people. There are good and bad reasons to refactor, but it is not always clear where the line is. Refactoring is also one of the main reasons why development teams, especially on the backend side, refuse to work with the product organization.
Product managers fear that engineering will run wild with unnecessary refactorings. Engineers fear becoming a feature factory with no say in code quality.
In my talk, I will argue that there is a method to this madness.
